Have you ever wished you could stroll down a stone street in the summer and avoid the heat of the sun? Well, perhaps you should visit the town of Águeda in Portugal and enjoy their spectacular art exhibit!
This exhibit, featuring hundreds of brightly colored umbrellas that seemingly float above the streets, has become a spectacle to many visitors of this quaint town. The umbrellas are part of an art festival in Águeda called Agitagueda, and were installed by the town council. These colorful umbrellas, while whimsical and quaint, also add practicality by helping window shoppers to stay out of the harmful effects of the sun. Photographer Patrícia Almeida published these images of the festival on Flickr saying that she was “amazed by all that color”.
